You only Get 5 Shots to Make A Good First Impression
Great photography is important when you are first starting out (and from that point on!) If you don’t hit the target with all 5 shots – you will jeopardize your chances of being accepted by an agency.
You need to show that you are beautiful, have a range of age and emotions. All things that are important when developing your portfolio. Every model is different so there is not a set group of photos that should be in your portfolio. When deciding on your photos your first one should say “WOW!” This image should be eye catching and engaging. Imagine if your image was tossed onto a table with 30 other images – would it stand out? Would it grab the director’s attention? Does it make them turn it over to learn more? If it does not say yes to all of those questions – you have the wrong photo.
There are a few EXTREMELY important concepts to remember:
This is truly a “first impression” business. For every agency or client you contact – your photos or comp cards go in the door before you. You are only as good as your worst image! Make sure your images have the ability to “WOW” agencies and potential clients.
There are four images that you will potential end up with. Bad, Good, Great and WOW. Your portfolio should only consist of Great and WOW images. Throw away the Bad and store the Good for memories. In your portfolio place the WOW images on the right hand page and the Great images on the left hand side.

Your photos are your selling point.
They most often create the first impression. A viewer will make judgments about your personality, your professionalism, your eye for detail, and your level of expertise based on what they see in your photos. You owe it to yourself to only put up your very best.
